Request assistance from an EU member

I have the M6. One of the glaring problems are the stupid airbag stickers on the sun visors.

Would someone in the EU be willing to purchase a pair of alcantara M6 sunvisors without the stickers?

    Hi Fred,

Even in Germany the M6 will have a sticker like yours, in German of course. I solved the problem by warming the sticker up (not too hot) with a hair drier (my wife was not amused, but she got it back without damage) and simply removed it by pulling it off. It was no problem at all. There were some small bits of glue left on the sun visor and I removed those easily by rubbing on brake cleaner very gently.

BTW there was no problem with changes in the colour of the alcantara. I quess, that a new sun visor (spare part), even in the US, will NOT come with the sticker on it.

Still, if you prefer new sun visors from Germany, just let me know and consider it done...
    Best Regards,

    Jürgen

Thank you - I'll give the heat a try. I used a solvent called "Goof Off" for the stickers on the Z8. From the odor it has a heavy xylene content (probably the same base as brake cleaner). I was a bit more confident using the solvent on the Z8's leather visors as I have noted that humans (and cows) usually don't dissolve in xylene - alcantara is a synthetic, and I am less sure of its solvent resistance.

I searched the web for the composition of alcantara. It is a mix of polyester, cotton and polyurethane. The stuff is pretty tough - ethanol and turpentine are recommended cleaners

As long as we're talking about parts from the EU...

What do you think we could do about getting a set of the european wide angle side view mirrors? Maybe even post this as a group buy? Andrew picked up a set of mirrors some time ago and posted pics showing the difference in the field of view. Quite a nice little safety upgrade. Ron

Part Numbers are in the ETK

A good parts guy should be able to get them.

I'd buy a set. We got a set for our 3 series on Ebay and they significantly increase the view.

If installation is something I can do at home, I'll buy a set as well.

They pop on and off, takes two minutes to replace each.

It seems we have enough interest in a group buy...

now if we can persuade someone from the EU to make the purchase? Maybe move this to the group buy section?

    Euro wide-angle side view mirrors . .

seem to be available here in Canada.
The cost is $160 CDN each + tax (~15%).
    Delivery time is ~ 7 - 10 business days.
Each weighs 0.094 kg each (less than 1 lb).
The parts specialist states that they are for Euro cars only.
If anyone wants to take a chance, let me know. I'm going to Florida at the end of October.

Try these guys in the UK

    http://www.cooksferry.com/

I got an AC Schnitzer 3 spoke steering wheel with walnut inserts for my Z3 from them, including the smaller Euro airbag. No US dealer would touch the project but Cooks Ferry shiped me everything I needed without a problem.
