    2000 Z8 (#60084) Black-Crema with 22,000 miles - Sold

I have this gorgeous two owner car for sale which has some miles on it, making it a perfect car for someone who wants to do some drives, adventures and events in their car.

This California Bay area beauty was built in Q4/2000, and has a CA certificate of title since 03, when it was bought from a car collector. It has always been garaged and covered, so is in perfect condition.

It has been impeccably maintained by Z8 Specialist Matt Carver at Peter Pan in Burlingame, where it has recently had a full “ten-year refresh” done, including replacement of almost all rubber hoses throughout engine, set of new 4 PS2 tires, etc. They also fixed some small rock chips from the front air dam. It got new BMW original paint applied at Costelli & Pardini’s in Sept/13.

It is 1 of just 229 cars made in this original stunning color combo.

The hardtop is included with its storage rack on wheels

    Modifications:

Great looking, I must say! How much of the car was painted?

It has been at least a year, but I've personally seen this Z8. As Andrew stated it was in perfect shape with an owner passionate about maintaining the car in an as new state. For those outside of the SF Bay Area, Costelli & Pardini's typically has high end show cars in its lot waiting for painting repairs/re sprays. This Z8 is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a rare color combination. GLWTS!

I'm especially excited about this sale, as it brings one of the country's great BMW enthusiasts into our fold. Kelly Kirkland was long time editor of the GG/SF BMW CCA mag, and also long time beau of Satch Carlson, who has given so many pages, and so many great covers on Roundel.

Welcome to the funnest car gang on the web! :-)

Welcome to the club Kelly and nice car. Looks to be very well cared for.

I remember talking to Satch during our big Monterey gathering in 2008 and he referred to us as "filthy" Z8 owners, in gist of course. So, I guess that means that Kelly, and Satch by extension, are now "filthy" Z8 owners.

I also remember that Kelly went all out in securing parking in the middle of the track for us, among other perks. So, a big welcome to Kelly.

The announcement was actually a few days premature, but fortunately that didn't jinx the transaction, which we've agreed on today. Shawn has done a magnificent job of taking care of Z8 #60084 and Satch and I are excited to be fortunate enough to take over the stewardship of this black beauty.

Thank you for the very kind and warm welcome into the group! Will we see you in Monterey in August of 2016?!

Yes, we're all still debating what exactly we'll all be doing, as you can see in the Drives section.

Although not as frequent as the SoCal crew, if you're located in the SF Bay Area we occasionally have drives/lunches. In fact, we're due for another gathering soon! Enjoy your new ride!

Andrew, I realize that... I just tend to be a bit of a promoter. ;-) It's an event close to my heart. 2016 will be my 20 anniversary since being part of the trio organizing the BMW gathering (the largest US gathering of BMW owners ever prior to Bimmerfest) during the featured-marque year at the Historics. BMW emptied their museum for that one. It's likely BMW will be featured marque again in 2016, and with the increased presence of the company currently, it's likely to be another memorable week!

Thanks for the heads up, Ed! Alas, we'll have the car in Portland for the near future. I hear there's a pretty good group there, too.

When you're in Portland you should reach out to Erik & Edy, they who arranged the awesome Oregon Tour we did in 2010. Here's a link to their profile.

Portland sounds great too for driving a Z8! I look forward to meeting you at one of our future events. Considering the rarity of the car, there's nothing like assembling a group of Z8s. The owners I've personally meet at these events have all been great too. Enjoy your car!
PS: My Z8 is behind your car in the first image of this post.

Yay, welcome Satch and Kelly. Read Roundel faithfully. Congrats on the Z8, probably a tiny upgrade to your Z4.

Once I let Satch drive the Z8, he will get to compare the two. The two days the car has been in Portland has seen only me driving (and loving) it.

Yesterday the Z8 met the Cars 'n' Coffee crowd for their last gathering of the year. Lots of great cars there and the Z8 got a lot of attention!

In the evening Satch's Portland friends threw a party for the Z8's arrival. When I saw the owner of the house's E Type Jag, I begged him to bring it out and put it next to the Z8. The lines of the two cars are so similar!

that's a cool comparison. I saw an F-type convertible on the road the other day and did a double-take. It looked like an updated Z-8, at least at- er - 65 mph

I do remember when we first saw the Z8 at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1999. Most automakers very carefully arrange their star on the display stand so that incoming journalists see its best side; I was impressed that BMW put the Z8 on a revolving turntable, obviously confident that the car had no bad angles. True enough: As I watched it slowly revolving, I saw echoes of several classic designs... now the 507, of course, and now the Cobra, and now the E-Type. There was even the faint whisper of a Corvette, which I now see most clearly with the hard top in place.

Fifteen years later, I finally got to ride in one.

Hey, you're forgetting our raucous laps of Laguna in my wildly noisy one during that Z4 launch!

Oh, did I get to ride with you around Laguna Seca? I thought I just trailed around in the E89 Z4. Come to think of it, I do remember your raucous exhaust! So perhaps I did get to ride in a Z8 before this one!

what I love about the stock exhaust is that apparently BMW's sound engineers worked very hard to give it a kind of a retro rumble, something reminiscent of the '50s. Having driven Bill Young's 507 for quite a few sonorous miles, I'd say that sound was what they were aiming for, and they've come pretty close. There is definitely something very nostalgic going on in a Z8! It's not just the roadster milieu; I am quite familiar with that existential construct from too many cross-country runs in my Z4.

By the way, while filling this nostalgiamobile with Chevron's finest the other night, I was asked by one young man what kind of BMW it was. He had never heard of a Z8. When I told him it was a 2000 model, he was astounded. Of course, some of that was because Shawn maintained this car with a fanatic's attention to detail!

So I wiped off the gas I spilled on the fender with a blue paper towel.

(I'M JOKING! I'M JOKING! STOP LOOKING AT ME THAT WAY!)

Yup, when this car came out, today's 16 year olds were tiny babies... And it had largely fallen off the radar, other than video games, by the time they were in those impressive pre-teen years.

:-) You'll be amazed at the compliments and love the Z8 generates at gas stations and random stops. Outside of us car nuts, its an almost unknown car, a secret hidden gem that people are amazed to discover. It never fails to delight on our drives the compliments and adoration this car gets, it really is the jewel in the crown of BMW's roadster heritage, as you'll discover on pretty much each and every drive.
