Strange dashboard noises in newly acquired 2001 Z8

Just got my 2002 Z8, 12,000 miles.
Drove it a few miles, all well. Drove it again day or two later and it had acquired a new,very strange, noise.

1) green "top operation" light stays on (whether top is up or down);
2) strange tweeting noises coming from driver's side dash near A-pillar. Usually intermittent but occasionally solid. Sounds almost like a radar detector bleeping.
3) red indicator lights on binnacle flash on/off irregularly

Your issues are not anything I have experienced or have heard to be a common problem with these cars. However, I do know that some cars start to do weird things when the battery is weak. Do you have any idea of the condition of the battery? Being that the car is new to you, perhaps the previous owner had not driven it much and allowed the battery to die, and then threw a battery charger on it long enough to be able to drive it onto the truck for shipment.

I wonder if maybe there is a radar detector in there from another owner? Which red light is flashing?

Keeping the car on a CTEK trickle charger resolved gremlins with my Z8. Pretty much night and day - went from "what warning light today?" to reliable operation. I have experienced this with other BMWs as well. The sensor set in the cars isn't happy when voltage drops. I had a weird beeping thing with mine when I first received it - turned out to be the aftermarket radio quietly beeping for attention every time the car was turned off.
