    Inspection Indicator reset

First post so bear with me if it does not conform. The inspection indicator continues to appear on the odometer panel. How do I reset it? (seems like it should be simple). I press the odometer button and "test" appears but no "reset". Suggestions?

I think you either need a code reader like the Peake or it has to be done by a dealer with the correct gear.

Try this. Offered up by a BMW Tech...Easy to reset yourself with just a piece of wire, if you want to. Ignition on, engine off. Open the round diagnostic plug under the hood. Stick one stripped end of wire in the second pin hole away from “pac-mans mouth” (body side of plug, not the cap you remove), ground the other end of the wire to whatever you can reach - jumper ground point, strut bolt, anything body grounded. Hold it for 10 - 15 seconds to reset oil service, or 20 - 30 seconds to reset inspection.

There's an "inspection" light and an "oil service" light??? I wonder if a dealer turned off all those notifications on my car, because I've never seen them come up as a reminder.

Not sure I have the guts to try something like this.
    2000 Red over black
heavily modified for performance. Although, not to the level of GM's car
