That Green Thingie Under The Fuel Door

Okay: There is a round plastic thing about the size of a peanut or a large thimble; it is a receptacle for the gas cap while you are re-fueling. An overzealous detailer can apparently knock it out of its bracket and lose the damn thing. Which is no big deal; I am sure I can buy a replacement and snap it into place. The problem is FINDING A PART NUMBER FOR THIS LITTLE GREEN THINGIE. I can't for the life of me find it on Realoem.com, so I hope somebody here can point me in the right direction.

Ton - I believe the part number you gave is for the protruding pin (the first picture). I believe what Satch is looking for and I am as well is the green ring that is actually on the fuel door as the receptable for the green protruding pin while you fuel (missing in my car in picture two where the green circle is). I can't find that part either anywhere - Ton can you figure it out? Satch - can you confirm that this is what you are looking for - either way I need one.

You are right Skip! I found the right part scheme (https://www.leebmann24.de/bmw-ersatz...=41&bt=41_1317) but I cannot find the green thingy

Yes, the pin (NLA) protrudes from the gas cap; what I need is the receptacle into which the pin fits. I can't find a parts diagram that includes the fuel door and its surrounding environment, or I'm sure the little bugger would appear.

Any chance you could find this part on another BMW at the wrecking yard? That's how I got some battery terminal bolts.

I looked up the part on mybimmerparts.com starting with the incorrect number (the first link) and found a diagram and thought that part number 11 might be what we are looking for. I called them and after they researched it they stated that the ring cannot be ordered separately and that the solution would be to order the complete filler door (second link - part 51177009897). The door is quite inexpensive and comes primed. However, one could order the door, take the ring from the new one and "install" on the door that's on the car solving the problem. Satch - what do you think?

Perhaps the ideal solution is a 15 year old kid with a 3D printer and some spare time. Its just a little round piece of plastic...shouldn't be too hard to print something.
