    engine light eisenmann

    Hi
Occasionally my engine light is turning on, I drove the car to the BMW dealer
and I had to replace 2 Lambda sensors, I picked up my car,
after few day , Engine light on again
so I went back to BMW, they told me there was a combustion error
    probably needs to clean injectors....Done!!!
after few day Engine light on , this time some catalitic error that they don't know.
So I explained that I have an Eisenmann exhaust.
They concluded that the light is coming up because the exhaust is too open compared to the original....
Has anyone experienced this kind of problem?
    any suggestion?
My car has about 8000 miles so maybe due to "inactivity"
    thank you

No, this is not likely as we have many cars here with after-market exhausts, and none have this issue. I would suspect that it's either the MAF's or the O2 sensors, but the diagnostics should make that clear. You could also ask them to change the sensor in the cat is thats where they're getting the issue.

I have about 12,000 miles on my car since I put on the Eisenmann exhaust and I have no issues. I have almost 30,000 miles on the car.....

I was told by BMW that nothing down stream from the cats matters.

Thank you for the suggestions, at the moment the light is off....if I get the issue again I will tell them to check the MAF's or the O2 sensors .
Barney I'm looking forward to hear what are the answers from your dealer.

My light is back on, apparently is not related to the eisenmann, and I am now reading a vanos issue....
The BMW dealer doesn't know what to do and insisted that was caused by the exhaust, so they sent me to a mechanic specialist, that does all exotics cars, and he told me that we may have a vanos problem.
My VIN is 61145, so I should be ok on that issue.
the car runs fine but the engine light comes up every now and then.
And yesterday I had some esitations when I accelerate in some occasions. But the dealer told me that with the engine light on is normal to have that kind of problem....
I also have the tickling noise at start up and maybe for longer then 20 minutes

    Any ideas??
    thank you in advance

I think you should seek out the closest expert on the S62 motor in your area. When dealers just blame exhaust or whatever it's just because they don't know any more. Let us know if you need help finding someone.

The first thing to do is change out the Vanos sensor, as these are prone to failure, but the clicking in the Vanos should never stay more than say 4 or 5 minutes, so there may be an issue there. Where are you located now?

    Thank you for the suggestions,
I am now in Lugano Switzerland,
the winter is gone and I will start to use the car again now (not even 9000 miles on the car BTW)
I will check the car this week and if the light comes up ( and it will) we agree with the mechanic to go , read the codes so we can understand whats wrong.
I will tell him about the sensors and keep you guys posted.
    thanks again

And once again Andrew was right.....
I replaced the sensors and the light is not coming up again (so far)
I wonder how 3 different BMW dealers couldn't come up with this solution

    Thank you Andrew
and everyone else trying to help
    Luigi

PS maybe Barney has the same issue
