    F1 GP in Austin

Saturday started with a low fog and a chill wind, but we got up before the dawn to get to the track for the 7.45am pit walk. There we got up close and personal with the lightening fast sub 3 second all four tire changes which are so blindingly fast that they're almost like a magicians trick! From there we went upstairs to the incredibly well catered and luxurious Paddock Club for a very civilized day of champagne, wine and genuinely delicious food. We watched open practice, qualifying and the Ferrari Cup race, here's a few snaps from the recently repaired RX1. (there's more on my Instagram too - amacphoto)

The excitement and anticipation of Saturday and Sunday morning were ultimately slightly deflated in a rather precessional race, but as always taking pix kept me entertained, and getting to hear the last but one start of the the mighty V8's was seriously impressive. The sound of all those cars sprinting up the hill to turn 1 was worth the entire trip! :-)

Great photos! The pit stops are truly impressive and the photos help understand the choreography involved.
The event was spectacular even for those of us in the bleachers (in 90 degree sunshine) eating Texas sized sausage and turkey legs. COTA did a first class job in planning and hosting with very organized and efficient crowd and traffic control. I did not see a single spectator unhappy in any way. I highly recommend attending.

Ken, sorry not to make it over to say hi, but once we were within the compound it was a long walk, and really not that much time!

It was a great weekend, more because of the company, wine, and food, but the racing wasn't that bad either.
