Thread: 2009 Porsche 997 Turbo cabriolet (blue top)

  1. 2009 Porsche 997 Turbo cabriolet (blue top)
    General Information
    2009
    Porsche
    997 Turbo cabriolet (blue top)
    GT Silver/Sea blue
Chrono package (over boost raises torque from 457 to 501 lb-ft)

I wasn't actively looking to upgrade my 911s, but this car came up in the right colors and equipment. This model year is the last for the Mezger-designed GT1 engine in the turbo and as a 2009 it also has the updated interior for the 997. In addition, this car has the 6-speed manual transmission which has been phased out in favor of the PDK in the 991 turbo.

UPDATE: Traded in for another car in April 2016.

That's a lovely color, and I bet she's a treat to drive too!

    Very nice Ed!! Great find.

I've been rather surprised by Porsche's decision to phase out manual transmissions. I know the double-clutch trans. are the future, blah, blah, but why not offer both?

Doesnt Porsche still offer manual on their cars aside from the GT3 ?

I completely understand the move. The cars are so powerful now, giving you full manual control is dangerous to most drivers as well as to the warranty department. Also when its all about 0-60 times, its so difficult to do it without the faster shifts. And in Europe its considered more sexy.

For Porsche's higher performing 911s, such as the 991 GT3 and Turbo, the 6-speed manual transmission has gone the way of the air-cooled engine. For me, the 6-speed and Metzger engine combination with the updated interior were attractive selling points that I anticipate holding up over time.
