Technical solutions for members of the BMW Z8 Club e.V. ! Dec. 2011

First of all, thank you for your membership (if you are already a member of course) in our BMW Z8 Club e.V. We have now almost reached the number of 700 members from Germany, Switzerland, United States of America, Netherlands, Austria, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Turkey, Italy, Malaysia, Canada, Russia, Lichtenstein, Syria, Denmark and Japan.

Second of all, without this number of members it would be simply impossible to have our own developments, like the reinforcement bracket for the rear bumper (picture below), because this was a project worth 30.000 EURO. Not to mention the efforts for the other technical solutions (file attached). We are happy being able to reward your membership with the reinforcement bracket as a gift in your mail box over the next days (depending on the speed of Santa in his sled). I am absolutely confident that your membership will always pay back in several ways in the future.

    Thank you and Happy Hollidays!

    Best Regards,

    Jürgen

Mine just arrived today, and I had a quick look at my tail section - it is seriously buldging, so this really did arrive just in the nick of time!

Thanks J?rgen, and I'll post some pix when I get a moment to pop mine on showing the problem, and the fix!

Is that a bulge in your tail section, or are you just glad to see me?

    Thanks Jurgen....

I got mine yesterday. Mine is not bulging and if it is warm this weekend, I will hopefully find some time to install mine. I will post some pics when finished.

Great to be a member !!
    Best Regards,

I collected mine from the Post Office today. I'll pop it on this weekend, which is funny since I had the lower bumper off of the car until last Saturday. The install looks very simple with only removing, aligning, and replacing the three bolts that connect the lower bumper to the bottom of the car.

Thanks, J?rgen! Great use of the posters as packing material.

I heard this a lot the last days but I can assure you, only seriously damaged posters were used as packing material!

Finally got to this. My bumper was only very slightly warped, but this new part will stop any further deformation.

The instructions form the Club are easy to follow. My addition would be that you might need to spread the brace slightly as it's a very tight fit on the bumper cover, and a little soapy water makes it slide on easier.

    Thanks J?rgen and the Z8 Club e.V.!

Walking behind the car at a distance I noticed how bright the bumper support is under the car. I'm not liking that. I may put a rubber bead along the rear edge to hide it.

I am sure it is more noticeable on the black than the silver as it contrasts more, I say do what makes you happy !!

Now you tell me! I just had it installed at Peter Pan (since I was there for other stuff). I should have painted it first? Sharpie?

I'm just going to find a small diameter rubber hose, split it, and glue it on. Should work.

I'm not sure on painting or sharpie...probably would need to be powder coated.

I cant imagine the paint would take much of a beating, and any minor chips etc should be easy to "Sharpie".
