On April 14th BMW Z8 Club, e.V. President, Sonja Tietz, along with Dieter Weidenbrueck, Chairman Technical Matters, and Christian Schmidt, Chairman PR, met with representatives of BMW Group Classic at the Techno Classica Show in Essen, Germany.
BMW Z8 Club regional representative Alf Ehrkamp had his pristine black Z8 on display in BMW's hall right next to a spectacular 507. He and fellow members manned the Z8 Club stand within the huge Classic compound.
Sonja, Dieter and I met with Georg Blumoser, BMW Group Classic Head of Parts Sales, who confirmed that starting March of this year the Classic Division has taken on full responsibility for our cars. BMW's 50 year parts support commitment for our cars is reality and has been reconfirmed.
Classic is in the process of assessing the overall parts situation and will be responsible for all parts unique to the Z8 with the exception of 368 parts shared with other BMWs. These engine and braking system related parts will be provided by BMW AG.
We discussed various concerns in detail and Dieter has offered the Club's assistance when it comes to researching and addressing technical matters.
We wish Mr. Blumoser and his team of 14 specialists all the best and are looking forward to many years of enjoying our cars with BMW Group Classic on our side.
