What's My Color?

oooh, that has always been my favorite. Isn't there a stratus/beige car somewhere (here)?
I was going to swap seats to the BMW performance seats but was told they would not fit. Love those seats, too bad. Heres a pic for anyone unfamiliar with them.

If anyone with a stratus car wants to trade.......

Ha, a bit of a disjointed post. I saw the dinan car with the different seats and that got me thinking about seats in the middles of my response to stratus.

Those seats look amazing. Won't fit because of the airbag maybe? Can they be ordered from BMW? What car are those in?

Z8 air bag or seat air bag?

to me it looks like the bottom bolsters are too wide for the Z8

I think the deal is, U.S. dealers can not order them so they must be euro spec only. Maybe has to do with testing regs and not enough quantity to meet some requirement.
I have asked again, now that this thread got me thinking, what exactly is the reason they will not fit in Z8. Will let you know, or better, I will start a new thread under mods so as not disrupt this one. John

This isn't a Z8, but it gives a pretty good feeling for what the mysteriously missing Chiaretto Red would have looked like on our cars. This is a Jaguar color called Opalescent Maroon, but it is very close to BMW's Chiaretto Red.

The side is kind of cool, reminds me of a Route 66 era Corvette. Not a fan of the front end treatment, however.

That's an odd hybrid, a Z8 with Alpina rims and mirrors, but if it has Alpina suspension it'll be a winner!

Not sure if this is factory or a repaint but it looks like silver and white. Not crazy about the two tone at all but if it's the real thing it has to be quite rare.

That's interesting, the UK cars get the US rear valance for the larger UK plates, I'd never noticed that before.

They're very close, but I can see the slightly lilac hue is there, especially in the smaller shot on the right.

The small shot on the right is a different car. Look at the blue in the rear liscience plate area... That is alpina blue (ish). So it's not that the hue is off on the whole pic. .????

I'd guess that the small pic is the same car with the hardtop on, I don't think there'll be that many blue Alpina's in the UK.

The difference between the two is pretty subtle...

Not exactly a "what's my color" car but still very unique. Saw this on the Z8 facebook page. It's described as a car that was "upgraded" by BMW Individual. Anyone know the owner/story?

Hi Carmen, it was me who wrote this on the Facebook page :-) I visit the car dealer who sells the car because I was curious too. It appears to be a "normal" Z8 sold in Germany, exported to Belgium and now to Holland. The sales person told me that the car went to the "Individual" department were the seats were retrofitted and the the door sills probably too. I did not start the discussion about NOT being a Individual because the sales person was not very interested. So it is a sales gimmick ....and I hope a future buyer will keep his eyes open because the price is 20 to 25 euros to high ...and that is rather a lot of money for 2 seats and a 2 door sills. @Kevin: it has also a Hamann exhaust

The more I look at those seats, the more I like them. The foam on my seats will need to be replaced in the next couple years...I think I'll take this pic to my auto interior guy and see how many thousands he wants to do something like this.

I'm guessing it's a Hamann special, as all those parts, and the twin exhausts are Hamann.

The palm trees and odd third world looking architecture made me think this was in one of the Gulf states, the plate looks likes it's Arabic text, and for fun you can see a whole lot more chromed cars in the Gulf states here in this dedicated site! http://chromeautos.blogspot.com

I wonder whether the roundel included in the box with each "Book" was intended to give the owner the opportunity to swap out the standard BMW roundel with the Z8 identifier. Could it have evolved from BMW's decision to eliminate the Z8 call-out that apparently was on the rear bumper of the prototype cars?

That's interesting, I had never thought they'd be the same size either. I have no idea if it was planned, or just a coincidence of standardized ordering of parts from suppliers.

I'm not a big fan of the blue and white roundels. I was thinking about changing the hood and trunk roundels out for a black and white set. The Z8 roundel looks great on the trunk...I'll take a look at the one included with "the book", but it might be worth ordering a new one rather then removing anything to change the book and its presentation.
