    Shipping a hard top

I purchased my Z8 from Santa Barbara BMW and it didn't have a hard top. As part of the deal they agreed to order one from the factory at a cost of around $13,000. After 3 months the top has arrived but now I have to get it down to Orange County. Any suggestions on how to get it here aside from driving up and putting it on the Z8? Thanks.

Maybe see if another owner is heading down your way, and wouldn't mind bringing on his or her car?

Failing that maybe make a weekend trip of it, there are loads of nice spots to stay in the SB area.

The hardtop comes in a big old shipping box. It should cost $250-$500 to ship it to you, or a closer dealer.

If it's safely packaged in a big shipping box just then UPS Ground it, it be half that or less.

How about driving up to SB and having them show you how to install it assuming that they know how (yea, I chuckled as I wrote it but I figured that everyone needed a laugh).

It is not rocket science but the first time can be a bit challenging.

Otherwise, UPS with it WELL insured.

Thanks for the input, I'm still waiting to hear back from SB BMW. For what I paid for the car, I expected that they would have delivered it.
