    Mechanic/service in Boston area.

Hi all, I am the new, proud owner a 2001 Silver/Black Z8. Love the car, and it will be driven, not stored for prosperity. That said, I am sure I will need knowledgeable/competent service in the coming days/years. I live in the South Shore area of Boston, but anywhere no too far away would help. Any suggestion?

    Thanks

Welcome to Z8 ownership- I am the original owner of a 61,000 mile Z8 in Cataumet (Village of Bourne). I have had great service from BMW of Norwood.

Mine is your twin, Silver/Black. Over the years I have added Dinan Stage 3, Eisenhaus race exhausts and a Quaife 3.64 limited slip differential. I have been very lucky as my car has not required much more than the normal preventive maintenance. These cars are built to drive, and I have had a blast rolling up the (S)miles...

I also added the BMW Performance Package. If your car doesn't have it you should consider getting it to reduce the chance of frame bending

Thanks for the reference. I believe BMW of Norwood and BMW of Norwell (actually in Rockland) are now part of the Prime Automotive Group. Have you considered bringing your car to the Norwell location, as it is closer to the Cape? I know few mechanics are familiar with the Z8, so finding anyone who has ever worked on one, much less seen one, is difficult. The previous owner suggested that I have the oil changed, so I took her to South Shore Autoworks, SSA, which is a Porsche specialist to have them change the oil and look her over. SSA also works on BMW's and they are familiar with engine, but that's it. The only person at SSA who has ever actually seen one was the detailer!

It's great you are driving your Z8. My wife has a '74 911S, which she drives every chance she gets. Needs an engine overhaul, but she will get that done over the winter.
