Ceramic Pro 9H - What do you think

I have had the Z8 clayed a few times and the glass feeling of the finish is always awesome and lasts more than a year. I dont like to put wax on the car. It is always garaged and still is a beauty after 19+ years.

But my local auto detailing facility is offering Ceramic Pro 9H ( 1 to 4 layers ) along with a layer on the wheels which might be good considering that brake dust after each ride. They also suggest Rain on windshields.

I haven't seen any comments on Ceramic Pro since 2017 (on a post from the Netherlands). What experience has chat room members had with this product and how did you like the look? I understand they will first do a high end wash and clay the car before applying the H9.

Jay - Are you going to use a professional detailer do the coating? If so (which is absolutely recommended) ask about their process and especially if they do a "paint correction" process insuring that the paint below is absolutely pristine before being coated. Good jobs do this with even brand new cars. I am not familiar with the specific product you are referring to, but I am a huge fan of ceramic coatings. My Z8 Has the Modesta BC- 04
http://www.modesta.co/ and my Targa has the Qtechniq Crystal Serum product https://usa.gtechniq.com/ (the same installer, who had switched to Modesta over time. Maneu well spend - easy maintenance and improved level of protection. If you do a clear bra at the same time the sequence is Paint correction > clear bra installation > ceramic (that also goes on top of the bra.

Good luck with everything and keep us posted!

I have had Ceramic Pro done here in NL through Louwman Exclusive Cars. 3 years back now still perfect. Also had it done by them on 2 other cars also very good after few years.

The car still looks great and the paint still looks perfect. When I run my hand across the finish I can feel it is almost ready for another clay job. But I have been debating if I should try the ceramic coating. I will have a professional detailer to the job and they have posted photos of hundreds of high end vehicles they have worked on and gotten good reviews. I first wanted to hear what other thought. I had a high end several hour clay job done at first which was costly, but definitely worth it. And want to keep the car with a real showroom finish.

Ceramic pro - works great and looks good. The car was polished - uh, “paint corrected” - first and that did wonders for the micro scratches all over a black car.

I am considering having a Ceramic Pro finish, perhaps with a clear bra, applied to my Z8. Is there a downside? Is there any risk to the value of the car in any way? The car's finish is flawless at nearly 20 years of age and I actually feel more pressure to keep her that way, but could this affect paint thickness numbers in any fashion?

Dan - no downside whatsoever, just make sure done with by a true professional after paint correction process. You won’t believe how great it will look. Your red/red will look amazing! Where in MO are you located? I am in Des Moines,IA.

We are lucky to benefit from the research that others here have undertaken to study new programs for our cars. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can share a recommendation for a great experience with Ceramic Pro and XPEL in Southern California (preferably Orange County)?

    Went with GTechniq 9h

I moved forward with the color correction, claying, and the application of ceramic coating on the Z8. WOW does it shine now. The reflections in the hood as I am driving are fantastic. On the way home, two separate high end car owners stopped by next to me at a traffic light and were admiring the car and could not believe this is now a 20-year old car.

The photos do not even do justice to the finish.

I have one layer of GTechniq 9h and two layers of 7h on top of that.

I originally was going to go with someone who was going to charge $2200 but I was uncomfortable with leaving the car at his facility for the week that is needed. I went back to the people who did a great clay job on the car years ago and found the person who had worked on my car left to start his own ceramic coating business. He had it for the week and treated the car as his own and did a fantastic job on every square inch. It cost $1600. And overnight the car was kept in a spot in a privately owned collection of 50 high-end vehicles under cameras, alarms, and other protection. I was very happy with the result. He is now getting me a Z8 cover for use in the garage.

New and happy Ceramic Pro customer. There is a noticeable increase in color depth, clarity, etc. I just like the way it looks alot. I hope it maintains this look for a long time, because this is an expensive wax treatment! I tried to upload pictures, but I can't seem to do it on my Mac for some reason. Anyway, trust me, looks great

    Best to all,

Looks like everyone is happy with their Ceramic Pro experience. One question, I understand that the after the paint correction, any clear bra (PPF) is applied and then the ceramic is applied to both the remaining car and the PPF. I am thinking of doing the PPF for the entire front of the car. Can anyone comment on what difference I might notice between the front and remainder of the car. It would seem to me that, even with the ceramic coating, the glossy reflection off a plastic coating might be diminished somewhat compared to the car body behind.Best,Ted
