Boot cover - is this right?

New (to me) Z8, so still figuring stuff out. When the boot cover is unfolded there is a double bump/ramp in the middle of the formed plastic base. How is that supposed to fit together? Is one side supposed to go "on top"? Seems like it is always going to cause the plastic to crack/tear.

When my boot cover is in the unfolded position, the plastic bumps/ramps do not make contact with one another. It appears the two plastic pieces on your cover overlay one another to a significantly greater degree than do mine. There is only a very small amount of overlap of the two plastic halves of the underside of my cover in the area near the ramps, and zero overlap as you move down the fold away from the ramps. Not sure if I articulated that very well, but hopefully it helps.

Here is mine - seems like the two halves meet better. Can you stretch yours to line up the sides side by side?

There isnít that much play in mine. Even with a strong pull apart it wonít separate as much as the example in the picture. It seems to still fit ok on the car, so Iíll work with it. Thanks for the clarifications on how it is supposed to look.

Could it be a newer design?

Mine is like the version in the picture (early car)
    2000 Red over black
heavily modified for performance. Although, not to the level of GM's car

I was thinking it was "old" design. The car is 60211 from 07/2000. I'm going with either dried out leather (but it doesn't seem dried out) or plain old manufacturing defect.
